Crime Prevention In-Service 3902 hours are provided during our Monthly Training and at the Annual Conference. Continuing Education Units (training hours) demonstrate crime prevention proficiency. In-Service hours also count towards the cumulative total required during a training cycle.
Crime Prevention 2101
Crime Prevention 2101 introduces students to the concepts of physical security and basic problem solving for law enforcement. Student will learn the basics of target hardening, and crime prevention. The student will be expected to conduct a student presentation as well as identify the following:
- Doors,
- Locks,
- Windows,
- Glass,
- Problem Solving, and
- Community Policing

Crime Prevention 2102
Crime Prevention 2102 covers commercial security and the TCPA Security Assessment. This course is more advanced and goes deeper into commercial applications of security and the power of prevention. The student will be able to identify the following:
- Commercial Doors,
- Locks,
- Windows,
- Power of prevention, and
- Best business crime prevention practices.

Crime Prevention 2103
Crime Prevention 2103 is an introduction to Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design. The student will learn the basic concepts of CPTED and how they are applied in a security plan. The student will be able to identify the following:

- Maintenance & Management, and
- CPTED Survey Checklist

Certified Crime Prevention Specialists Exam 2104
***Upon completion of Crime Prevention 2101, 2102 and 2103, student is eligible to take the TCOLE exam to become a Certified Crime Prevention Specialist (CCPS).

CPTED for Schools 3902
Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) for Schools provides detailed guidance to help students with practical strategies to enhance campus safety. Participants learn to implement layered, tiered approaches that reduce risks and strengthen physical spaces by improving visibility, managing access, and promoting natural surveillance to deter crime.
The course includes a hands-on CPTED assessment of a school. Students who successfully complete a team presentation and written exam will receive a course certificate and 24 hours of TCOLE credit for Crime Prevention In-Service.

Crime Prevention on Patrol 3902
Crime Prevention is the anticipation, recognition, and appraisal of a crime risk, and the initiation of action to remove or reduce it. Crime Prevention is an active approach utilizing public awareness and preventive measures to reduce crime.
Crime Prevention On Patrol is an expedition to keep watch over an area, especially by guards or police walking or driving around at regular intervals.
In today’s society the patrol officer is expected to know and due everything. Agencies across the country are faced with budget cuts and lack of manpower to effectively approach the reduction of crime in their communities. Agencies are mostly reactive as a posed to proactive.
Crime Prevention on Patrol adds tools to the average patrol officers tool belt to assist the patrol officer with anticipating recognizing and appraising crime within their patrol area. This course highlights some of the key components of proven prevention coupled with best practice in community engagement and programs.
Who Should take Crime Prevention on Patrol
Patrol Officers, School Resource Officers, Patrol Supervisors, and other law enforcement personnel with and interest in reducing crime in the community served.
